Humane Services

An Open Admission Shelter:

The Rainbow District Animal Shelter is an "Open Admission Shelter" and is always available to take in unwanted pets for re-adoption from one of our our service areas*.

The Rainbow District Animal Shelter may agree to pick up or accept animals from communities we do not service, however cannot do so at a subsidised rate and may reserve the right to refuse animals as we see fit.  Please contact your local government or the OSPCA for information on subsidised or compassionate services that may be available in your community.

In order to receive preferential or compassionate pricing, or to bypass admission screening, proof of residency in one of our service areas may be required.

We offer quarantine, euthanasia, and remains handling services including cremation.

We can arrange to pick up your pet in one of our service areas, or in other communities, please call the shelter for a quote.

To learn more about the services we offer or to make an appointment to surrender your pet, please call the Shelter.

Please note visits to the Shelter are by appointment only.
